Why organic hens have a bigger carbon hoofprint

The key difference comes down to feed. Organic hens eat more because they are more active and need more energy to stay warm in outdoor conditions. Free range eggs that are not organic also had a higher carbon footprint than caged eggs, but not as high as organic.
